Catholic women in Maula Deanery of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe celebrated the Marian feast with a Eucharistic Celebration at St. Francis Catholic Parish in Kanengo. The celebration was attended by members of St Kizito Parish Catholic Women Association.

In his homily, Monsignor Patrick Thawale reflected on the Wedding at Cana, where the wine ran out. He noted that Mary never doubted her Son, Jesus, would help — and He did, by providing the best wine. Mons Thawale emphasised that Mary’s greatness comes from her deep faith, attentive listening, and unwavering trust in Jesus. “Our celebration today is a fruit of that same faith,” he said.

Mons Thawale, who is also the parish priest of Kaggwa Woyera Parish, encouraged Catholic women to stand firm in their faith and not allow others to define their lives. He emphasised that they can only do this by having confidence in themselves and recognising their own potential. The Monsignor urged the women to take inspiration from the Blessed Virgin Mary and to live lives filled with love.

He further encouraged them to cultivate a love for prayer and to spend time with Jesus. “Go to confession, seek spiritual direction, and cherish and celebrate being members of the Catholic Women’s Association,” he said.
Maula Deanery comprises 12 parishes, including St. Kizito Parish.
