Who We Are

St Kizito Catholic Parish was established in 1975 and is situated in Area 47, Sector 2, in Lilongwe. It serves Area 15, Area 47 and Area 56 populations. It is the Parish for Kizito Church which comprises of Banja Loyera, Maria Mthandizi wa a Khristu, St. Gabriel, St. Andrea, St. Anne, and St. Philomina. The church is under Maula Deanery of the Lilongwe Archdiocese.

Church Setup

The setup of St Kizito Parish and its churches follows the general set-up of the Catholic Church in Malawi as set below;
1. Family – forms the nucleus of the church
2. Small Christian Community – the gathering of many families who pray and praise the Lord as one big Christian family. 
3. Church Council – The SCCs form the Church Council which facilitates the liturgical and administrative issues of the church
4. Parish Council – The seven churches’ Councils, Lay Ministries and Church Groups  form the Parish Council

Religious Bodies under the Parish

1. Sisters of St John the Baptist (Baptistines)

The Sisters of John the Baptist manage a nursery and primary school in Area 47 sector 3 and Bakita Primary School at Mtsiliza. They conduct home-based care visits to surrounding communities and also conduct distance adoption whereby children from under-privileged families are enrolled at the congregation’s schools. The congregation is planning to construct and open a secondary school in Mchinji. The sisters also serve at the Church as Eucharist Ministers.

2. Medical Missionaries of Mary (MMM)

Medical Missionaries of Mary operate an Integrated Health Centre at Mtsiliza. They also provide a variety of health-related assistance and empowerment of women and youth in various communities of St Kizito Parish. They provide counselling sessions to the youth and serve as Eucharist Ministers.
