Advent Recollection: Called to be Eucharistic People

Our Advent Recollection concluded with a Eucharistic Celebration led by Fr. Louis Chikanya, DP. The theme of the recollection was “Called to be Eucharistic People” (Kukhala anthu a Ukaristia).

Over the past two days, Fr. Louis delivered talks focusing on Jesus’s interaction with sinners and the complexities of sin. He also discussed devotions, highlighting their benefits to Christians and identifying things to avoid. Fr. Louis then gave a talk on reconciliation, encouraging Christians to make a dedicated effort to go to confession. As he put it, “All saints loved two things: prayer and penance.”

In conclusion, Fr. Louis spoke about the importance of living consciously and being self-aware, noting that Jesus often comes in disguise and is easy to miss. He summarised the season by saying, “The theme of Advent is to always be awake and to light your lamps.”

He extended his gratitude to all the parishioners who sacrificed their time to attend the recollection.

St. Kizito Parish also thanks Fr. Louis for taking the time to facilitate this recollection, despite the fact that he is currently busy handing over his duties in preparation for a new missionary assignment in Europe. We wish him well in the Archdiocese of Riga, Latvia, where he will be going in the next few days.
