The policy was developed by the Malawi Conference of Catholic Bishops (MCCB) to guide all parishes and Catholic institutions on child protection and safeguarding policies, as well as the protection of vulnerable adults. The facilitators provided guidelines on the roles of leadership in identifying and reporting issues. The facilitators explained the different kinds of abuses that can happen, like abuse of authority, human and child trafficking, sexual abuse and exploitation, abusive and demeaning language, and excessive punishments, among others.
