St Kizito Parish launches Bible Month

The Catholic Church in Malawi today begins this year’s Bible Month under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope: Seeking Servant Leadership”. The theme draws inspiration from the Jubilee Year theme, Pilgrims of Hope, while also addressing our national context as we approach the forthcoming general elections. It seeks to unite our spiritual pilgrimage of faith with our civic responsibility of promoting leadership rooted in service, integrity and the common good.

At St Kizito Parish, Bible Month was launched yesterday during our Eucharistic Celebrations with a Bible procession and Enthronement on the Altar. Parish Priest Fr Martin Mulholland encouraged parishioners to deepen their relationship with God by reading the Bible and listening attentively to His Word.

Small Christian Communities have been encouraged to prioritise Bible Study at their weekly meetings this month. Families are also encouraged to read the Bible daily together among other activities.

The national launch of Bible Month was held at Bembeke Cathedral in the Diocese of Dedza. Catholic radio and television media have prepared special programmes during the month, such as Tidziwe za Bible.
