The St. Patrick’s Missionary Society in Malawi gathered today at St. Kizito Parish to celebrate the feast of their patron saint. The Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Kennedy Malemia, Dean of the Maula Deanery in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe, who was joined by Monsignor Patrick Thawale and nine other missionary and diocesan priests.

A message of service
In his homily, Fr. Malemia reflected on the first reading of St. Peter: “Whoever serves, let it be with the strength that God supplies.” He noted that St. Patrick was deeply cognisant of this divine strength, which allowed him to serve the people of Ireland with unwavering love and dedication.
Fr. Malemia emphasised that the missionary priests of St. Patrick’s Missionary Society continue to rely on that same strength today. He urged all Christians to serve others tirelessly and to preach the Word of God through the witness of their daily lives.
Br Eze renews membership

During the Mass, Brother Noel Exe, a seminarian who recently arrived in Malawi for his pastoral experience, renewed his temporal membership in the St. Patrick’s Missionary Society.

Following the liturgy, the celebration continued with a dinner reception. The event brought together parishioners, visiting clergy, and guests from across the Maula Deanery in a spirit of joyful fellowship.

Over 50 Years of Mission
The St. Patrick’s missionaries first arrived in Malawi on March 16, 1970. Today, they continue their service at St. Kizito (Chigoneka), Maria Mthandizi wa Akristu (Mtandire), St. Augustine (Mtengowanthenga) and the Diocese of Mzuzu.
