The Catholic Church in Malawi is this weekend celebrating the Jubilee of Catholic Teachers and Educators.
St. Kizito Parish today, as per tradition, celebrated and honoured parishioners who are teachers and educators — both active and retired. Parish Priest, Fr. Martin, gave them a special blessing and thanked them for their tireless work in shaping the minds and hearts of students. He prayed that the Lord would grant them the wisdom in discharging their work.
Among the teachers in our parish are catechesis teachers, primary and secondary school teachers, university lecturers, and education specialists.
According to the Malawi Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Catholic Education Commission oversees 1,538 primary schools, 14 national Catholic secondary schools, 127 community day secondary schools, 7 technical colleges, 2 teacher-training colleges, and 2 universities across the country.
St. Kizito Parish was privileged to have our daily Eucharistic Masses broadcast live on Radio Maria Malawi throughout the past week. A special thanks to Noel and Linda, the Radio Maria technicians, for making this possible.
Radio Maria is encouraging Small Christian Communities to contact the station to arrange recordings for programmes such as Limana la Chikhristu or coverage of Miphakati Rosary prayers, among others.
