The Easter Triduum at St. Kizito Parish was a profound journey of faith, marking the three most sacred days of the liturgical year with prayer, community, and new beginnings.
Holy Thursday: The Mass of the Lord’s Supper

The journey began on Holy Thursday when the parish celebrated the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. This liturgy commemorated Jesus’ Last Supper with His apostles. Parish Priest Fr Martin Mulholland, SPS, led the faithful in recalling the institution of the Eucharist, the establishment of the ministerial priesthood, and Christ’s example of humble service through the washing of feet. Holy Thursday marked the solemn beginning of the Easter Triduum, setting the stage for the days to follow.
Good Friday: The Way of the Cross

The solemnity continued into Good Friday, a day of deep reflection on the Passion of Christ. In the morning, parishioners participated in the Way of the Cross, processing through the Area 47 suburb, Sector 2.

Later in the afternoon, the community gathered once more to attend the Veneration of the Cross service, honouring the sacrifice that precedes the joy of the Resurrection.
Holy Saturday: The Easter Vigil of Lights
On Holy Saturday, the Easter Vigil began in darkness outside the church with the blessing of the fire and the preparation of the Paschal Candle. The congregation then processed into the church, led by that single light, for the beautiful chanting of the Easter Proclamation (Exsultet).

The night was overflowing with grace and many blessings:
Renewal of Faith: The congregation stood together to renew their Baptismal Promises.

Sacraments of Initiation: Fr Mulholland blessed the water and the congregation, welcoming four new members who were baptised into the faith family. Six members received the Sacrament of Confirmation (the four newly baptised and two others).

Wedding Blessings: To crown the celebration, two couples had their weddings blessed, beginning their married lives surrounded by the parish community.
Easter Sunday: A Day of New Beginnings
Following the busy vigil, Easter Sunday was filled with further milestones. The parish celebrated as one young boy received his First Holy Communion, a significant step in his personal faith journey.

The service also looked toward the future of parish ministry. Father Martin Mulholland officially commissioned four new Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion. These individuals join the 14 ministers commissioned last December in their vital role of distributing the Eucharist during Mass and carrying the Blessed Sacrament to sick and homebound parishioners.

The weekend concluded with a double celebration of life. The parish was blessed to have two parishioners celebrating birthdays over the Easter weekend. In a touching moment, Father Mulholland—who also celebrated his birthday on Easter Sunday—asked the congregation to bless him. It was a beautiful conclusion to a week defined by faith, service, and the joy of the Risen Christ.

Later that morning, Friends of St Patrick’s Missionary Society treated Fr Martin to tea and some birthday cake.
